KHSS Sharathon

Our 2010 Share-A-Thon will hit the airwaves at 6 am on Wednesday (4/14) and will continue until 6:00 PM Friday (4/16). If you would like to participate, simply call in during those days and make your pledge. If you would like to pledge ahead of time, use the pledge_form.  There is a PDF version of the pledge form to the left that you can download, fill out, and mail in.  If you would like to participate in a really unique way, consider these ideas:

Matching Pledge
With a matching pledge, you can challenge your fellow listeners to collectively "match" your pledge for a certain hour of the day. For example, let's suppose you want to make a matching pledge of $300. What we will then do is select an hour and make that hour a "matching pledge" hour for $300. That means that we'll challenge your fellow listeners to collectively pledge $300 or more during that hour in order to help us collect on your $300 matching pledge. Some people like to do "double match" or even "triple match" hours. This means they'll make a double matching pledge of, say, $300, but only require $150 of combined pledges during their hour (they end up paying a double match of the first $150 pledged during their hour). In the case of a "triple match" pledge of, say, $600, they'll end up paying a triple match of the first $200 pledged during their hour. Lots of possibilities here. Use the pledge_form to participate in the matching pledge program.

Intra-Parish Challenge
Do you have some fellow parishioners who listen to KHSS? Why not challenge them to support Catholic Radio? For example, you can make a pledge of, say, $200. Then you can challenge your fellow parishioners to match your pledge. You could even offer to DOUBLE your pledge if a certain number of your fellow parishioners match your $200 pledge. A few years back, one of the Tri-Cities parishes did this, and raised over $1,000 for KHSS.

Inter-Parish Challenge
Want to get a little friendly rivalry going with the parish across town? Call up some fellow parishioners and get them to contribute to a "parish pledge". Then challenge the other parishes to match your pledge. As you can from the graph below, Christ the King in Richland, Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Walla Walla and St. Joseph in Kennewick had a great competition over the 18 month period ending 3/31/2009. Which parish will come out on top for Share-A-Thon 2010? Will it be yours?

Prayer-Group Challenge
Perhaps you're a member of a prayer group or a Cursillo reunion group. Why not get your prayer partners together and collectively challenge other prayer groups to match your group's pledge?

Family Challenge
Are you from a big family? Have you ever thought of publicly challenging your siblings to match your pledge? We've had families do that in past Share-A-Thons; it's a lot of fun to listen to.

Family Match
Maybe instead of publicly challenging your siblings to match your pledge, you would rather get together with your siblings, pool together your resources and sponsor a "family hour." The Klein family (Adolph's and Lorraine's), for example, made sure that all of their family members participated last year and the result was astounding. That family alone and the hours they sponsored raised several thousand dollars for KHSS. It was truly awe-inspiring. Some people were so moved by it that we had people who had already pledged call back to up their pledges. Wonderful stuff.

KC Challenge
A few years back, a local Knight of Columbus pledged $300. He then challenged his fellow Knights to match his pledge of $300. If 10 of them would match his pledge, he offered to double his pledge to $600. Suffice it to say that his challenge was met. Through this man's idea alone, we raised $1,800 from individual Knights of Columbus. And some of the KC councils made additional pledges on top of that. What would we do without the Knights of Columbus?

Church Bulletin and/or Pulpit Announcement
Help us spread the word about our 2010 Share-A-Thon. Get an announcement into your parish bulletin for us and, better yet, have your priest announce it from the pulpit the weekend before the Share-A-Thon begins.
